New York Abortion Access Fund Annual Fund-a-Thon Party
Join the New York Abortion Access Fund (NYAAF) and BKForge as we celebrate this year's Fund-a-Thon—an annual fundraising campaign where community members come together to raise money for their local abortion fund.
Abortion funds play a critical role in ensuring access to financial abortion support for their local communities. NYAAF—New York's only abortion fund—supported 12,700 callers from 30 states and 10 countries and moved more than $2 million to directly fund abortion in 2024 alone. As systems continue to fail us and the abortion access landscape only worsens, NYAAF needs our support now more than ever.
Join us for an afternoon of games, activities, and good food! A cash bar is available at the venue. Raffle tickets will be on sale during the party, so make sure to enter for your chance to win prizes from some of our favorite NYC businesses!

Reproductive Rights Day of Action for Shahana Hanif
BKForge, Planned Parenthood of Greater NY Votes PAC, and Lambda Independent Democrats are coming together for a Reproductive Rights Day of Action in support of re-electing Shahana Hanif to City Council!
Shahana is a reproductive rights champion who has stood up to Trump's attacks on our rights time and time again. She introduced and passed the New York Abortion Rights Act, and created a $1 million abortion access fund in NYC — the largest municipal abortion fund in the country.
Join fellow BKForgers to talk to voters about Shahana’s proven record for her constituents, her deep engagement in the district, and her progressive vision for a city where all New Yorkers have the support they need.
No experience is required — training will be provided, and BKForge co-chairs will be there for additional support!

BKForge Community Meeting
Join BKForge to learn from Brooklyn Voters Alliance about ranked choice voting and who is on the ballot for the 2025 primary in June. We will also share updates about BKForge's primary election endorsements for NYC Mayor as well as NYC Council Districts 35, 38, and 39.
BKForge + District 39 Support PPGNY at NYC Health Committee Hearing
BKForge is partnering with City Councilmember Shahana Hanif to urge community members to show up in support of Planned Parenthood of Greater New York (PPGNY) this budget season.
PPGNY is combating long standing under-investment in reproductive health care, combined with soaring health care costs, workforce shortages, the havoc wreaked by the COVID pandemic, and care restrictions imposed in the wake of the Dobbs decision. These factors are limiting care access today, even in New York.
To ensure PPGNY can continue to provide the care New Yorkers depend on, PPGNY is pushing NYC to increase funding to PPGNY through the FY26 Budget. District 39ers can help support by joining BKForge at City Hall to sit in the committee room during the Health Committee hearing on March 24 to show support for the staff and patients who will testify on behalf of PPGNY.

Always a fun and energizing family-friendly event, we’ll be gathering to make thank-you cards and valentines for independent abortion providers. We will have plenty of supplies, but feel free to bring your favorite craft materials to share. All ages are welcome!

BKForge is partnering with several other Brooklyn political organizations to host a candidate forum of the Democratic candidates running for NYC Public Advocate and Comptroller in 2025. This hybrid (in-person and online) event is your chance to hear directly from the candidates about their plans for New York.
You’ll have a chance to submit a question to the candidates when you sign up. Seating is limited.

BKForge Community Meeting & 2025 Kickoff
Join BKForge on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade as we usher in a new year of advocacy for reproductive justice and gender equity! We’ll touch base about our lobby meetings with our State Senators and Assemblymembers, and revisit our legislative agenda based on the election results.
In addition to the bills we already identified from last session, we will discuss the New York State Reproductive Health Training Fund (the focus of the speaker at our fall kickoff), and we will discuss whether we want to expand our agenda to include priorities identified in post-election resources from groups such as NYCLU and Indivisible.

Get Out the Vote Community Canvass for Prop 1
BKForge and Planned Parenthood of Greater New York Action Fund are partnering with Lambda Independent Democrats of Brooklyn (LID) and Jews for Racial and Economic Justice (JFREJ) to speak face-to-face with our Brooklyn neighbors about Prop 1.
This is the first weekend of early voting, so it’s a critical time to spread the word and get out the vote for Prop 1!
Brooklyn for Prop 1 - Rally
BKForge is proud to cosponsor this rally hosted by NY State Senator Andrew Gounardes alongside advocates and local elected officials to spread awareness about the importance of voting YES on Prop 1. Join us on the steps of Brooklyn Borough Hall to encourage voters to help protect our rights and reproductive freedoms, and keep New Yorkers — not politicians — in charge of our personal decisions.
Prop 1 Friend Banking & Materials Giveaway
Friend banking (aka relational organizing) is a great way to get friends and family in your network to take action! Join BKForge to hang out, enjoy a drink or a snack, and send texts/emails to your personal contacts about Prop 1.
We’ll also have stickers, palm cards, and posters that you can take with you to share with neighbors, your favorite businesses, etc. Even if you can’t stay for the duration, drop by any time during this event and pick up materials to go.

Canvass for Laura Gillen (NY-4) in Long Beach with Indivisible Brooklyn
The path to retaking the U.S. House of Representatives runs through New York State. Just over the border in Nassau County is a winnable toss up district where we can help elect Democrat Laura Gillen!
BKForge is joining our friends at Indivisible Brooklyn to take the train together to Long Beach, knock on doors for a couple of hours, and then take the train back to Brooklyn together.
