BKForge 2026 Primary Endorsements
Votes are in! BKForge is proud to endorse the following progressive champions:
State Senate District 13: Jessica González-Rojas
González-Rojas has been a trailblazer in the state assembly and a leader in her district. In the 2024 budget season, Assembly Member González-Rojas secured $25 million to codify her legislation to establish the Reproductive Freedom and Equity Fund, which provides critical funding to abortion providers and the New York Abortion Access Fund to expand access to reproductive health care for all New Yorkers. We’re thrilled to lend our support for González-Rojas’s state senate campaign and vision for a more just and people-powered NYC and state.
Please join BKForge for our Phone Bank for Jessica González-Rojas on Monday, June 15!
Congressional District 10: Brad Lander
Lander has a decades-long record of progressive accomplishments and community engagement. As an affordable housing advocate and urban planner leading the Fifth Avenue Committee, as a City Council member and cofounder of the Progressive Caucus, and as New York City Comptroller, he’s fought for New York’s working families.
Most importantly, BKForge recognizes Lander's long-standing and outspoken support for abortion rights and access to care. In fact, Lander has not only consistently advocated alongside BKForge through most of our campaigns since our founding in 2016, but his leadership and commitment to civic engagement and fighting for equity led to Brad co-founding GetOrganizedBK, the umbrella organization that gave rise to BKForge, initially known as WHARR.
Below are just a few highlights from his extensive record that demonstrate how Lander is the candidate with the stronger record of fighting for reproductive justice, and why we need Brad Lander representing us in Congress:
As a City Councilmember, Brad Lander:
Served on the Committee on Women's Issues, supported legislation to prevent crisis pregnancy centers from lying to New Yorkers, and sponsored a resolution in support of the NY Reproductive Health Act.
Joined BKForge and the National Institute for Reproductive Health in 2019 to strategize for the successful campaign to make NYC the first city in the U.S. to directly fund abortion care.
Developed a resolution in conjunction with Girls for Gender Equity, calling upon the NYC Department of Education to create an inclusive school dress code policy in compliance with Title IX and accounting for diverse cultures, gender expressions and body diversity.
Co-sponsored “Know Your Rights” campaigns in Sunset Park and Kensington countering ICE activity in the neighborhood and including several community groups, including BKForge.
As City Comptroller, Lander:
Co-developed the policy brief The Path Forward to A Feminist Recovery in coordination with Councilmembers Tiffany Cabán and Shahana Hanif, highlighting the disproportionate burden of COVID-19 on women and including recommendations for an equitable recovery.
Pressed pharmacy giants to immediately begin dispensing mifepristone in states where it is legal to do so. (At the time, NYC’s pension systems owned over $1.32 billion in total shares of the companies.)
During the 2024-2025 campaign season, Lander:
Created an extensive reproductive health agenda for the city aimed at not only protecting access to healthcare but expanding it — launched alongside BKForge.
Provided platforms for BKForge and the NY Prop 1 campaign to share information with attendees at campaign events.
But we’ll let Lander's own words speak for how much he fights from these issues — consistently and with actions to back them up: “In Congress, I will fight to codify a right to an abortion and repeal the Hyde Amendment, but you will also see me building in coalition with partners around the country, working with state and local officials to protect reproductive care in New York, mobilizing our community, and working with legal partners to challenge restrictive abortion laws…around the country. And you’ll never, ever find me talking out of both sides of my mouth on abortion coverage, as the incumbent did in Hamodia, expressing openness to state laws restricting abortion.”
We’re excited to join a broad coalition to talk to voters about Lander’s proven record as a repro champion, unique leadership experience, demonstrated progressive values, and vision of a New York City that is affordable and welcoming for everyone.
