FORGING AHEAD!

Later this year, WHARR will reach a milestone: our five-year anniversary. It’s the right moment to pause, to redefine, and re-dedicate ourselves. As the events in Texas have shown us, our collective minds, hearts, and actions are needed more than ever.

To mark progress through transformation, we are changing our name. We are becoming BKForge: Brooklyn For Reproductive and Gender Equity. We have a really bold and colorful new look, as well as a more purpose-focused vision and mission:

We envision a New York City and State where health equity and gender justice are fully realized.

We advance reproductive health and gender equity through advocacy, action, and collaboration, grounded in racial, environmental, and economic justice.

BKForge builds on WHARR’s values, emphasizing the creation of powerful, long-lasting progress. Of bringing forth meaningful change through strength, craft, and focus.

Forging is the process of turning raw materials into something valuable, functional, and effective, often by applying heat, pressure, and artistry. We like that analogy and hope our members and friends feel the same.

You’ll see a lot of BKForge over the next few weeks and months as we move forward with activities that will be familiar to our members, such as setting our legislative agenda and scheduling lobby meetings with our state representatives.

BKForge welcomes people of all races, genders, and identities. We will always have WHARR at our heart. We celebrate the concentrated effort and support of our members over the past five years. Though we’re a small grassroots organization, we’ve lent our collective voice to fight for a more just world. We’re so proud of everyone’s efforts, and grateful. You all helped make a difference here in New York and beyond.

We invite you to forge something stronger, better, and lasting with us.
